Our Client, within the Marine and Engineering Industry has a vacancy for a dynamic and hands-on Business Development Manager to be based at the Durban branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business, as well as maintaining and raising the Company’s profile in the industry. Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Maintain, develop and grow existing client base
  • Identify, explore and follow up on all opportunities within the market
  • Actively pursue new business with clients and agents
  • Prepare and present quarterly business development plans
  • Compile, maintain and update marketing- and sales strategy plans
  • Provide feedback on market trends and customer comments
  • Maintain good relations with the Port Authorities
  • Source and secure tenders
  • Assist with the compilation and submission of quotations/tenders
  • Ensure maximum utilisation of dry-docks
  • Monitor and maintain dry-dock bookings
  • Assist with general company advertising and promotional campaigns
  • Actively market the new Dormac floating dock internationally
  • Identify Mozambique opportunities for fabrication and offshore work.
  • Explore opportunities on the East Coast of Africa.
  • Work closely with Dormac divisions and offshore teams.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven marketing track record in an engineering-related field - shipyard experience and a good understanding of the shipping industry will be a definite advantage
  • A relevant B-qualification in marketing and/or mechanical engineering will be an advantage
  • Highly motivated, ambitious, positive and driven to succeed
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative, who is innovative and a creative thinker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at an executive level
  • Capable of working independently and within a team
  • Candidate must be willing to travel both locally & international
  • Negotiating and influencing skills
  • Commercially experienced at tenders and terms and conditions of contract
